HISTORY OF BARANGAY CANG-ASA

Long ago, there were people residing in a place which is now to be known as Cang-asa. Prior to the existence of Cang-asa, a couple was one of the few who settle in the place for many years. The place was entirely covered with various kinds of trees. The couple was known as Candoy and Candasa. They lived happily and peacefully together for centuries, but they were failure in their Mariage because they were not able to bear a child. Instead, They adopted a child, a boy. Education at that time was not so important to most residents unlike to the couple, Candoy and Candasa.

The couple owned hectares of land that they cannot cope up to till. The neighbouring families asked for some areas for them to cultivate. They are known to be rich and kind-hearted to the people in their place. Years had passed, The couple became old and weak. The wife died living all the properties to her husband Candoy and their grown-up son. Her death made the people sad.

After burial, the husband, their son and some friends went back home but they were surprised to find out that their house was gone. Everybody helped in looking for the house but it’s nowhere to be found. Finally, because of Candoy’s anger, he decided to cut all the trees in their land thereby producing a land clearing.

Candoy and the rest of the neighbourhood agreed to name the place “ CANG-ASA” in honor of the lost wife Candasa ( nickname “ ASA”), the prefix “CANG” of which is attached to denote ownership of the habituated place.
